Please don't use the region's roads this morning as conditions are still dangerous. More #snow & #ice is expected today.
Last night, a major incident was declared and an operation was launched to rescue people stranded in vehicles. http://socsi.in/kxWd8

Heed the advice of the police, ambulance service and fire service - all of which are asking people not to make journeys that are not essential. Many roads across the county remain impassable this morning.

So New Year...new resolutions....how about having a transport New Year resolution?
Why not try and use the bus once a month / week rather than take a car trip?
Or you could challenge yourself to go somewhere new on a bus once a month or once a quarter?
Here are some examples of where you could go
Wells from Frome by bus? You take the First Bus 267 to Bath then pick up the 173 or 174 bus that goes to Wells. There is lovely Wells Cathedral and Bishops Palace to walk around plus the lovely town with a Saturday market. One thing to note when returning to Bath is get off at Bear Flat to pick up the 267 rather than the bus station (this is due to bus connection issues with the 267). You you will need to get 1 bus ticket called the First Bus West of England ticket for £7.50 which covers the return bus journey on the two buses. .
Hogwarts adventures - did you know some scenes from Harry Potter were filmed at Laycock? You can take Faresavers X34 to Laycock. It runs Monday to Saturday and explore Laycock with its Grade 1 listed buildings. Video shows part of Laycock used for the Harry Potter film https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4T0cBj9M5c
Longleat - combine your New Years Resolution of getting fit and going to a new place. You can take Frome Minibus bus 53 bus to edge of Longleat and walk into the site. Probably about 5 mile round trip walk from the bus stop to Longleat centre. Plus you can see Longleat's lovely Rhododendron which flower in the late Spring
